Good thing we asked that chick to be in the band, because Lilith Fair is having a competition to win a opening spot at it’s Philly show this summer. Now, I know what you are thinking, 1.) this isn’t 1997, 2.) isn’t Lilith Fair for soft spoken ladies with giant acoustic guitars and 3.) aren’t there dudes in the band? Well, it’s 2010, and the 2010 Lilith Fair has lots of cool bands such as Tegan and Sara (Katie’s favs), Metric, the Gossip (love me some Beth Ditto), Cat Power, and Beth Orton, and yes Betty Iron Thumbs has three strapping young men in it, but the only requirement is that there be one female in the band (whose purpose lies beyond tambourine banging…or the other type of banging…)

So how can you help us play at Lilith Fair? It’s simple (sort of.) Sign up as a fan with http://www.ourstage.com (a quick and painless sign-up that costs you nothing.)  Once you are all signed in, look up Betty Iron Thumbs, and mark us as one of your favorite bands.  Then look up the Lilith Fair Philadelphia competition under the competition tab.  There, we will go head to head with other bands (you may have to click through a little) and make sure to mark us as your favorite!  Supposedly there are algorithms involved.

So please sign up for http://www.ourstage.com and get us up in the rankings!

Thanks a bajillion!

Hey hey!  So first of all, thank you for all of your support and votes for us to play at the Trenton Ave Arts Fest on May 22nd.  We won the spot and truly appreciate it from the basement of our hearts!  So mark your calendar and make sure you come see us at 3pm on May 22nd.  It should be a great festival!

In other Betty news, we are playing a show at Coyle’s Rox Box tonight in Manayunk/Roxborough.  It will be our first show at the Rox Box (it’s at the same location on Ridge Ave. where the Blinkin Lincoln used to be), and we play early at 9pm so make sure you come out.  We are playing with some great bands and it is sure to be a good time.

Here is the flier for tonight.  I was really creative and used a giant thumb for the flier.  Woo hoo.  I also put an ostrich in there, because apparently if I was an animal, that’s what I would be.  A tall lanky bird.  I don’t know how I feel about that.

The following photo of Jaison taken during our recording session exhibits how incredibly mind blowing our upcoming album will be.
